Year 11 Economics students, along with their teacher Ms Cinque, were amongst 800 other students from NSW schools attending the UBS Economics Day 2016 at the Wesley Centre, Sydney.
The day was not only productive and informative but also extremely enjoyable considering the number of respected economists who joined us there. These included: Scott Haslem, UBS Chief Economist; Dr Michael Plumb from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA); Joakim Tiberg, UBS Global Macro Strategist; Tracy McNaughton, UBS Head of Investment Strategy. Finally, the students were also able to meet Tim Riley, who is not only the Director of the Economics Literacy Centre but also the author of their textbook. Jason Wu was able to get his Economics textbook signed by Mr Riley.
Our excursion was not just a sightseeing trip. The UBS staff certainly structured the day to make it as helpful as possible and with nearly a thousand other students there, it allowed us to comprehend the level of work needed to excel in the HSC. The helpful tips from the speakers and their valuable insights into the currently astonishing world of economics will definitely assist us in achieving our desired marks next year.
