Bus Services
If eligible, students can apply for a Student Opal Card to assist in their travel to and from school. Students are eligible if:
- They are a resident of NSW or an overseas student whole is eligible for free government education
- The straight line distance from their home address to schools is more than 2km or the walking distance from home to school is 2.9km or further.
You can check your eligibility and apply for a Student Opal Card online at Transport NSW. Once approved, your opal card will be mailed to the address nominated in your application.
Applications are accepted all year round for the current year. Applications for the new school year open at the start of Term 4.
School Opal cards don't need to be issued every year. The student's existing card can be re-used the following year if the student is still eligible.
If you've thrown the previous year's School Opal card away, or if your card has been lost or stolen, you'll need to order a replacement card. A card replacement fee will apply.
Please Note: The School Opal card is only valid for use between home and school on the transport operators specified in the original application. If an attempt is made to use a School Opal card for unapproved travel the Opal card reader will show an error message.
There is one company that provides transportation for eligible students to and from HPHS:
Transit Systems - Bus Timetable
To plan your trip between school and home, please use the Transport NSW Trip Planner at www.transportnsw.info, or alternatively call 131 500 if you are unsure what bus route to take.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When planning your trip, ensure to select 'School Bus' under the refine icon, so only school buses are selected and not public buses.
