Wellbeing Programs

At Hoxton Park High School, every student is known, valued and cared for. Student wellbeing is essential for both educational and social development, and are optimised by safe and respectful learning environments. We facilitate a range of leadership, wellbeing and enrichment opportunities to inspire our students to flourish and ensure they are happy and healthy adolescences.

Peer Support - Peer support aims to empower students with practical skills and strategies to build positive relationships with their peers. The outcomes of the program are better connectedness, reduction in bullying behaviours, improved resilience and a greater sense of possibility. Peer support achieves this by developing and sustaining positive relationships, sense of self and responsibility for self and other through a series of sessions facilitated by peer support.

Breakfast Club - The aim of the Breakfast Club is to develop students’ readiness to positively begin the school day whilst allowing the Wellbeing Team an opportunity to check-in with the students. A nutritious meal is provided by the Wellbeing Team and gives student the opportunity to Breakfast Club gives students opportunity to mentally prepare for the academic requirements for the day, address any concerns or issues student may have, build positive interactions between students and teachers.

Student Leadership Council (SLC) - The Student Leadership Council (SLC) comprises of the Senior Prefects and Juniors members to represent the student body at HPHS. The SLC participates in school functions, fundraising events, promotes school spirit, and creating partnerships between the high school and primary schools. The SLC fosters skills in teamwork, public speaking, and leadership in order to develop future leaders. The SLC is for students who are interested in growing their confidence and leadership skills.

Top Blokes - A mentoring program for male students to provide an environment that fosters critical thinking so they can build self-efficacy and the skills to lead healthy and safe lives. The program's principles focus on strength-based, harm minimization and peer-mentoring delivery methods, to engage boys.

Shine - SHINE is a unique personal development and group- mentoring tool that uses an inspirational, practical and experiential approach to learning for young women. The program equips young women with the knowledge and skills to discover who they are and the person they want to become.

Girls Supervisor - The Girl’s Supervisor at Hoxton Park High School aims to enrich young women with resilience, female empowerment, positivity and self-confidence. This is achieved through programs such as Invincible worldwide, female career expo, health and wellbeing programs, self-defence programs and the SHE series. These outcomes are further developed by interviewing and counselling girls regarding any personal and educational issues and liaising with welfare agencies to provide support for all girls.
