Year 12 Scholarship Winners

University of Sydney E12 Scholarship

Congratulations to Muizz Khan and Sabiya Khan who were both awarded The University of Sydney E12 Scholarship.

While the E12 Scholarship is an early entry to university program, it is also recognition for effort and achievement in academic study. Both Sabiya and Muizz completed Year 12 in 2013 and applied for the E12 Scholarship through Hoxton Park High School's Careers Adviser, Ms. Dokmanovic.

Benefits

Whilst gaining an early offer to their preferred course, both Sabiya and Muizz also gained other benefits through this scholarship. This includes a $5000 first-year scholarship, focused support to assist in enrolment and transition to university, an iPad to support them in their studies and a University of Sydney Access Card that provides discounts on and off the campus with resources such as text books.

Principal Endorsement

Students who apply for the E12 Scholarship must be supported and recommended by their school Principal and must complete a staged application process including achieving results that meet the scholarship expectations.

"We had to apply online and complete some questions in this process. I found this hard as the questions were personal and reflective- it's not easy to talk about yourself like that" said  Muizz.

Sabiya supported Muizz's view and added "you really had to find the right words to express yourself and support your application. We had great support from our Careers Adviser, Ms. Dokmanovic. She really made sure that we understood the process and completed each step thoroughly".

Mrs. Dokmanovic added that "the Principal's endorsement is critical to the application's success and both students were highly supported by Mrs. Wallace and the school. A Principal's comment is highly regarded by the panel assessing the scholarship applications".

Muizz has enrolled into a degree in Sports and Exercise Science, aiming for a career in Sports Research or Human Movement/Biomechanics. Sabiya has enrolled into a Bachelor of Arts degree, aiming to major in Sociolegal Studies, leading to a career in politics or law.

Contribution

We are extremely proud of both Muizz and Sabiya. Both contributed greatly to their school whilst enrolled at Hoxton Park High School and continue to bring kudos to their school community post HSC.

We look forward to following their successes through their study at university and into their career of choice.

We wish them well.
