Self Select
What is Self Select?
The Self Select class at Hoxton Park High School is a class for students who are focused on their own learning, enjoy working with others and working to a more significant level than the average student. Students in Self Select solve problems, investigate and work thoroughly to explore topics deeply and commit themselves to working hard, often completing over and above the expected outcomes for students at that age level.
Students are surrounded by like-minded peers who share similar values and qualities- they are dedicated, intelligent and are driven to achieve their personal best. In having all of these students together in the one class, there is an atmosphere of competition and motivation, leading to greater success.
Our Self Select teachers have undertaken specific training in the teaching of Gifted and Talented students through the GERRIC program run through the University of NSW.
Applications:
Applications for this class are now open. Students must complete an official application form in their own words and must be endorsed by their Primary School teacher. Students will also need to attach their last two school reports to support their application.
Applications are available from our Partner Primary Schools or our Administration Office at school and must be submitted by the close of business, Thursday 5/4/12 (last day of Term One, 2012).
Applications over the last two years have been of a very high standard and the class has been fully subscribed, with many high quality students being placed on the class waiting list. To be considered for this class, your application must be submitted on time and be your best work.
