On Wednesday 9/8/17 the CAPA Faculty took Year 7 on an excursion to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre as part of the ongoing ‘Art Pathways Plus' project that is being coordinated by the Art Gallery of NSW. The day involved students participating in artmaking workshops (one ran by contemporary artist, Louise Zhang) that were on the theme of ‘personal identity'. Students engaged in these creative ‘hands on' learning experiences and produced both individual and group works of art.
The Art Pathways Plus project is a schools-focused arts program which aims to develop discovery in the Visual Arts by facilitating student access to both the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and the Art Gallery of NSW as well as their participation in art workshops. The program is sponsored by Crown Resorts Foundation and the Packer Foundation.
The Year 7 students participating in the Art Pathways Plus project will be visiting the Art Gallery of NSW in coming weeks. The project will culminate later in the year with an exhibition night where the student's artmaking will be on display at the Art Gallery of NSW.
